Can I really take piano lessons online and learn how to play piano?

There are definitely advantages in having piano lessons with a piano teacher in person. The main one is that they can correct posture/technique problems that an online piano teacher cannot. However, for $5 a week for unlimited piano lessons, you simply can't go wrong even if it's only for some extra tips.

What style of music will I play?

Anything you want.

The more accurate question is "What style would you like to play?". We have many styles in our piano lesson library already, but we teach you something far greater. You see, during piano lessons most ?traditional? piano teachers will drill piano exercises into you until you can?t take anymore. They?ll also work on one piece for months and then you choose another piano piece. If you were asked to just sit down and play the piano ? it would be very rare indeed that you could play anything different from the few piano pieces that you?d learnt.

The big difference here is that our piano lessons teach you the ?rules? of music. (piano chords, piano feels, piano styles, basslines, grooves, scales, modes, etc?) Our piano lessons are taught in a way that get you playing piano straight away, and allows you to jam with friends and pick up piano music and play. In particular ? chord charts and downloaded popular/jazz/contemporary songs.

After you've taken a handful of piano lessons you?ll notice that you can play one song in heaps of different piano styles ? whether it?s swing/pop/bossa/ or even country. Once these piano lessons show you the rules, it really opens doors and it?ll always be enjoyable.

How many piano lessons will I need before I can play the piano?

Tough question? I guess that?s up to you. Everybody learns the piano at a different rate. However, we?ll go out on a limb here and say ?we think you?ll learn faster here with our piano lessons, than with any other piano lessons or method we?ve seen?.

We say that because the usual (and very outdated way of teaching beginner piano lessons) is to play a few songs with only one note. Then you add another piano note. After a few months you?ve got 3 piano notes and you?re playing ?hot cross buns? ? one handed too.
